Things to do in San Francisco - POPOS #1 (Privately owned public open space)

This #UrbanTrekUSATips by Urban Trek USA a TOP RATED San Francisco private walking and city tour. Joining an urban trek San Francisco walking tour will provide you an IMMERSIVE San Francisco EXPERIENCE. The BEST city tour in San Francisco. Get off the tour bus, urban trek with us!

A good "things to do in San Francisco" on a nice day is to bring your lunch or just relax a bit at one of the POPOS (privately owned public open space) around San Francisco. Most of the POPOS offer a quieter spot in the busy areas and some are on roof tops that offer nice views. POPOS are privately owned places but are required to be open to the public during business hours. If I am not mistaken, this concept started in 1985. (Note: I will add more POPOS around The City in the following weeks.)

This first POPOS I am sharing is one of the best, if not the best, because of its easy access and nice views of the tall buildings and busy Market Street below. It also has a few seating areas that are somewhat secluded and seem like you are on a balcony overlooking Market Street. This POPOS is located at the Crocker Galleria at Post & Montgomery. There are two ways to get here: one is via an elevator just inside the doors at the entrance of the Wells Fargo Bank and the other is through door from the Crocker Galleria (50 Post Street) food court (see photo below). So if you are around the Financial District check out this POPOS.

Tip: If you want to get some lunch nearby to take to this POPOS, Bun Mee (650 Market Street, between Kearny & Montgomery) has very good Vietnamese street food. I love the Belly Bun, Bun Bowl and Citrus Bowl. Their chocolate mint cookies are delicious for dessert.

Things to do in San Francisco for Earth Day

Things to do in San Francisco for Earth Day is to join an urban trek San Francisco tour. An urban trek is basically a San Francisco walking tour to give visitors an IMMERSIVE San Francisco EXPERIENCE, and taking public transportation (i.e. electric & hybrid Muni buses) is incorporated to get to farther places or places that are harder to walk to (i.e. up the hill). Therefore, joining an urban trek is a totally ECO-FRIENDLY way to tour San Francisco that will lessen your carbon footprint during your San Francisco visit.

Get off the tour bus, urban trek with us! The BEST way to really EXPERIENCE San Francisco.

Things to do in San Francisco - Awesome Seafood

This #UrbanTrekUSATips by Urban Trek USA a SMALL GROUP San Francisco tour. Joining an urban trek walking tour in San Francisco is the BEST city tour to provide visitors with an IMMERSIVE San Francisco EXPERIENCE.

Things to do in San Francisco is awesome seafood at Woodhouse Fish Co. They have two locations in San Francisco: one in the Lower Pacific Heights neighborhood (1914 Fillmore, between Pine & Bush) and the original in the Mission/Castro neighborhood (2073 Market Street, @14th Street). Woodhouse Fish Co. is my most favorite restaurant because of the awesome seafood and - more important - is the great service of the staff. Woodhouse Fish Co. is a family-owned business, which adds to its remarkability. Another big plus is their casual homey atmosphere. No pretentiousness.

If you are a fan of oysters, their $1 Oyster Tuesday is not to be missed. That is a BARGAIN!

My most favorite dishes on their regular menu are the Toasted Buttered Dungeness Roll, Cioppino, Crab Cakes, Lobster Roll and Clam Chowder. The various pasta entrees that they changes frequently are always a winner. They have a Special board and on those occasions I ordered one of the items, I have never been disappointed. Last Thursday I had the Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna. Delicious!

Things to do in San Francisco - Jack Early Park

Things to do in San Francisco - Jack Early Park is a tiny park in Telegraph Hill that has a pretty nice view. If you are in the North Beach and Telegraph Hill neighborhood check out this quaint park. Well, basically it is a lookout point where you will see the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, Bay Bridge and all the other beautiful views around San Francisco Bay. (Note: I think this would be a good place to propose to someone because of the quaintness, the view and being somewhat of a hidden surprise.)

Jack Early Park is on Grant Ave, between Francisco & Chestnut Street. Refer to map below.

Things to do in San Francisco - Chocolate at Dandelion Chocolate

Things to do in San Francisco - Delicious chocolate at Dandelion Chocolate. Their factory and main cafe is located in the Mission District, 740 Valencia Street, between 18th & 19th Streets. They also have a stall at the Ferry Building but not everything offered at the factory/cafe is offered in the Ferry Building location (e.g. Chef Tasting). Pretty much everything is my favorite. If I had to choose my three top favorites, it would be the Frozen Hot Chocolate, the Chef Tasting (selection changes every now and then) and the European Hot Chocolate (very thick hot chocolate). I just tried their new Carrot Cake and it could be one of my top three favorites.

Chef Tasting - Selection changes every now and then. This photo was from a while back. Current selection has two different items.

European Hot Chocolate - You can have more than one marshmallow, but don't abuse their generosity.
Also, too bad they do not offer churros because this would be excellent with churron.

Who would not like this especially on a hot day?

Hot chocolate is always a comfort especially on cold or rainy days.

Better than wine flights? Selection also changes now and then.

This is a new item and it could be one of my top 3 favorites.

Things to do in San Francisco - North Beach Seafood

Things to do in San Francisco - Delicious seafood in the North Beach neighborhood at Betty Lou's Seafood & Grill (318 Columbus, at Grant). It is said the Cioppino was invented by the Italian fishermen who lived in the North Beach area in the past. Betty Lou's offers an excellent Cioppino. My other dishes that are very good are the Petrale Sole, the Clam Chowder and the Ceasar Salad.

Another aspect of Betty Lou's that is appealing is its casual homey atmosphere. No pretentiousness here.
