Things to do in San Francisco - Yerba Buena Gardens #UrbanTrekUSATips

This #UrbanTrekUSATips for things to do in San Francisco by Urban Trek USA a SMALL GROUP San Francisco walking tour providing a real IMMERSIVE San Francisco city tour EXPERIENCE. Why just simply visit and see the ordinary stuff when you can join an urban trek San Francisco walking tour and EXPERIENCE the wonderful.

Yerba Buena Gardens located along Mission Street between 4th and 3rd Streets is a nice green open space in the middle of the urban jungle (downtown). There are also an indoor ice skating rink, bowling alleys, the Metreon, a food court, Target, an arts center and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. The SF MOMA is also just across the street (on 3rd Street). What I like most is the green open space. I like going up above the waterfalls of the MLK Jr. Memorial where there is a sitting area with a panoramic view of the green space below and the tall buildings around the area.

From April to October, there are FREE events (i.e. musical, cultural, circus, etc.) during lunch time and after work hours for your entertainment. Click here to the calendar of events.

Things to do in San Francisco - New Holiday Ice Skating Rink at Civic Center #UrbanTrekUSATips

This #UrbanTrekUSATips by Urban Trek USA San Francisco SMALL GROUP walking tours for an IMMERSIVE San Francisco city tour EXPERIENCE. Why just simply visit when you can experience it - San Francisco.

As a follow up to my previous post back in Nov. 12, 2018 (click here) on two existing holiday ice skating rinks in San Francisco for things to do in San Francisco during the holidays, a new holiday ice skating rink opened in the Civic Center (City Hall) on Nov. 30, 2018.

In my estimation, the size of this ice rink is in between the one at the Embarcadero Center and Union Square. The Embarcadero Center rink being the largest then this on at the Civic Center and the smallest one is at Union Square. What is nice about the Civic Center ice skating rink is there is a narrow section that goes thorough the Sycamore trees and makes for a romantic area to skating if you are there with someone you want to be romantic with.

Note: Friday would be a good time to go during the lunch time if you want to sample of the food truck food when Off The Grid is there from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. If the Senor Sisig truck is there, check it out!

Warning: The Civic Center are is not an ideal place to be at night so be more cautious after dark. Maybe the city will assign more policemen to patrol that area by foot during the time when the ice skating rink is open.

FYI: The tree lighting for the Christmas tree will be on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, at 5:00 - 7:00 pm. For more information about this event, click here.

The photos and videos were taken on opening day.

If you come when City Hall is open during the weekdays, go inside our City Hall. I will post more photos of our beautiful City Hall in a future post.

San Francisco Fleet Week 2018

Today, Saturday, was a perfectly gorgeous day to watch the Fleet Week Air Show - one of the best things to do in San Francisco in October. Looks like tomorrow, Sunday, will be another nice day. I watched the air show today because tomorrow will be the Italian Heritage Festival in North Beach so I am going to that event.

I like watching the air show in Fort Mason because it is not as crowded as in Fisherman's Wharf  and the Marina Green. I like my spot where I can see Alcatraz because most of the awesome maneuvers happen near Alcatraz.

Things to do in San Francisco - Vesuvio in North Beach #UrbanTrekUSATips

This #UrbanTrekUSATips by Urban Trek USA - SMALL GROUP San Francisco tour. BEST city tour for an IMMERSIVE San Francisco EXPERIENCE. Maximum of only 7 people per group. Get off the tour bus, urban trek with us!

Vesuvio is one of those iconic bars in San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood. Sept. 30, 2018 was its 70th anniversary. As shown in the photos and video taken from the festivities, it is a unique place with a good deal of character. The walls are filled with art, memorabilia and photos. An excellent things to do in San Francisco when you are in the North Beach neighborhood.

This is a short video taken in Jack Kerouac Alley of one of the bartenders reciting a poem she composed for the 70th anniversary of Vesuvio:
