Things to do in San Francisco - Muni Heritage Weekend (Sept. 7 & 8, 2019) #UrbanTrekUSATips

This #UrbanTrekUSATips by Urban Trek USA San Francisco walking & city tours providing the best immersive San Francisco tour experience. Why just simply visit when you can experience it. Get off the tour bus, urban trek with us!

This weekend, September 7 & 8, 2019, is the annual Muni Heritage Weekend from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. This can be fun especially for those who appreciate vintage public transportation. This year will be extra special because the oldest cable car (#19) built in 1883 - that has not been in operation since 1942 - will be running for the first time along the California cable car track since its long hiatus. (Note: To read an article about cable car 19, click here.)

The other neat vintage ones to check out are the open top boat tram from Blackpool (UK), the one from Melbourne (Australia), the Market Street Railway "dinky"streetcar (#578) built in 1896 and Muni's very first streetcar (circa 1912).

Some of the vintage motor coaches will provide free trips around sections of The City from where the San Francisco Railway Museum is located. For more details about this event, click here to the event website.

Additional information can also be obtained by clicking here.

These are some photos I took from last year's Muni Heritage Weekend:

Things to do in San Francisco - Yerba Buena Gardens #UrbanTrekUSATips

This #UrbanTrekUSATips for things to do in San Francisco by Urban Trek USA a SMALL GROUP San Francisco walking tour providing a real IMMERSIVE San Francisco city tour EXPERIENCE. Why just simply visit and see the ordinary stuff when you can join an urban trek San Francisco walking tour and EXPERIENCE the wonderful.

Yerba Buena Gardens located along Mission Street between 4th and 3rd Streets is a nice green open space in the middle of the urban jungle (downtown). There are also an indoor ice skating rink, bowling alleys, the Metreon, a food court, Target, an arts center and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. The SF MOMA is also just across the street (on 3rd Street). What I like most is the green open space. I like going up above the waterfalls of the MLK Jr. Memorial where there is a sitting area with a panoramic view of the green space below and the tall buildings around the area.

From April to October, there are FREE events (i.e. musical, cultural, circus, etc.) during lunch time and after work hours for your entertainment. Click here to the calendar of events.

Things to do in San Francisco - Golden Gate Park, Conservatory of Flowers #UrbanTrekUSATips

This #UrbanTrekUSATips by Urban Trek USA San Francisco SMALL GROUP walking tour & city tours. Joining an urban trek San Francisco walking & city tour is an IMMERSIVE San Francisco EXPERIENCE. Why just simply visit when you can experience it - San Francisco!

Continuing #UrbanTrekUSATips on good things to do in San Francisco Golden Gate Park, this post recommends the Conservatory of Flowers. In my prior post on the Botanical Garden (here), I mentioned the Botanical Garden is huge. The Conservatory of Flowers is a smaller area to enjoy seeing beautiful and exotic flowers. Therefore, if you have less time and are a fan of beautiful flowers, the Conservatory of Flowers is the place to visit.
