Things to do in San Francisco - Friday "Free" Lunch (Part 2)

On March 9, 2018, I posted Things to do in San Francisco - Friday "Free" Lunch about Comstock Saloon's (in North Beach neighborhood) Friday free lunch with purchase of two cocktails.  This post is part 2. I went back on May 4 after I saw the Instagram post of Jason the chef of Comstock Saloon.

It was a warm afternoon so I ordered the Mint Julep (cocktail #1) and the Pisco Punch (cocktail #2). The free lunch was Offal Falafel, a delicious and colorful dish. I was really hungry that afternoon so the free lunch was not enough to satisfy my hunger and so I also ordered their very delicious burger (not free). I was still "thirsty" after my burger so I ordered another Pico Punch because this is one of my favorite cocktails at the Comstock Saloon. My other favorite is the Cherry Bounce (see part 1 post).

Things to do in San Francisco - Fort Mason Community Garden

This #UrbanTrekUSATips by Urban Trek USA, a TOP RATED SMALL GROUP San Francisco tour. Joining an urban trek walking tour in San Francisco is the BEST San Francisco CITY TOUR to get an IMMERSIVE San Francisco EXPERIENCE. Get off the tour bus, urban trek with us!

Things to do in San Francisco is going to the Fort  Mason Community Garden; especially in the Spring when flowers are blooming. If you are planning on going to the Golden Gate Bridge and you are coming from downtown or North Beach or the Wharf area, you will have to take the outbound Muni #30 bus and disembark at the bus stop on Van Ness & North Point / Bay Streets - where Fort Mason is located. This would be a good opportunity for you to check out the community garden in Fort Mason. Refer to map below.

If you are also biking to the Golden Gate Bridge, you will have to go through Fort Mason. Take a detour and check out the community garden.

In addition to the community garden, Fort Mason also has some awesome views as shown in the photos below.

Note: From March to October, Fort Mason has Off The Grid at Fort Mason, which are a whole bunch of food trucks that offer some very good food, every Friday from 5:00 pm - 10:00. If you go to this event, that would also be a good opportunity to check out the community garden.

This was the waiting list when I was there the last time. The date to the right is when that person was put in the waiting list. Looks like people wait for like 9 years or more to get a plot. Click on this link for the most current waiting list (as of Mar. 20, 2021) in case you are interested.

View just outside the community garden of the great meadow. On a nice day on weekends, this is usually packed with "bros" and "Marina chicks."
